Here are three tips to have fun and perform well at the Côte-de-Beaupré Half-Marathon

Last year, we made a change in the framework of Côte-de-Beaupré Half Marathon. Instead of taking Avenue Royale as in the past, the route now uses the cycle path that runs along Boulevard Sainte-Anne. The start and finish are at the foot of Montmorency Falls, a magnificent, peaceful, and privileged place!

The comments having been more than positive following the event of last year, we have chosen to come back to the same site and with the same route for the 2015 edition.

Here are some pictures taken during the last edition:

During the 2014 edition, several runners achieved personal bests thanks to this course which is intended to be flat and fast. The wind was certainly quite strong on the return, which increased the difficulty of the event, but the conditions were nonetheless conducive to good performances.

Here are some tips to have fun and perform well at this event:

  1. Practice on the flat. As the DMCB course has very little vertical drop, it will not be beneficial for you to prepare yourself by doing hill training.
  2. Prepare for the wind. As the course is along the river, you will have to run with the wind in the face either on the outward or return path. Save energy for the section of the course where you will have the headwind. TIP: the ideal is to run with one or more participants in order to take relays to cut the wind.
  3. Visualize the Course: Imagine how you will feel in the first third, second third and third third of the course. What will your thoughts be? How will you replace negative thoughts (ex: I'm too short of breath) with positive thoughts (I'm running like a lion / gazelle)?

Good preparation and we look forward to having you with us on September 13!
