You run and you think.
You are undergoing a tornado of reflections.
You love all those little trips that drive you crazy take you from kilometer to kilometer, from street corner to street corner, from one reflection to another.
Sometimes, beyond the reflections, you meet with your gaze what I call a extrinsic happiness factor motivation.
You are extrinsically motivated if the REASON for which you perform is related to your immediate environment but outside the current exercise.
The best example is related to this "sunshine" bench that I came across during my walk in the forest on Thursday at midday:
I often feel as if God, LIFE, is spraying me with signs that I must decipher, so it didn't take much for me to have the profound feeling that it was a CODE or a directive, but what exactly? I was surely going to find my answer in the realm of reflections! And I ran.
Another extrinsic positive moment that often affects me is a gesture of greetings, made by a friend or acquaintance with whom I have not chatted for a while (bye / bail). Ironically, I was just thinking of him for a project the day before yesterday. I'm the only one that's happening to? And I run.
And the sun peeking through the clouds just as " Here Comes the Sun " reaches your ears—is that a coincidence? Then you think of George Harrison, to whom it happened in a park, head in the clouds, lacking inspiration (late '60s) and discouraged by the squabbles between band members. He was taking a break on his way to his friend Eric Clapton's house. " Here Comes the Sun" was born in five minutes on a park bench… And to think I was planning to bring a raincoat for my run… It's been a long, cold, lonely winter … And I'm running.
This kind of signal comes when you least expect it, by SURPRISE (I think). It's always free. And I run.
Like those trail games, hopscotch drawn on the ground by children, you slow down and watch them. You make sure that no one is looking at you, as if you are ashamed or as if it is illegal… And then GO, you do two backwards jumps on ONE FOOT, with a shy smile that reminds you of your childhood. For 12 seconds, YOU ARE 7 YEARS OLD. You think about your Grandfather who you miss a lot. Impossible to explain scientifically what is happening but you wipe 2 tears after your pirouette on the hopscotch game which brought you to the memories of your Grandpa Marcel… The one who brought you chalk to draw in his parking lot .
Your best friend Judith has been on crutches for two weeks and heartbroken. You promised yourself you'd draw this spiral on her cast when you get to the office tomorrow. That's what you call a "happy moment." These moments of synchronicity that you soak up like a sponge when you're running are little gifts, extrinsic happy moments that motivate you. You just have to take them from the shelf of reflections.
Am I alone sometimes avoiding the sidewalk lines, imagining a frenzied crowd applauding this feat, or simply making myself believe that it will bring me luck?
Then it's the turn of two turtledoves to sing as you pass, as if they were waiting for you to pass. That's what you think around the corner.
A cat is there, looking at you with a PARTISAN air, proud of YOU. I am fou happy when i run. I absorb these few messages of inexplicable energy, telling myself that it happens to all runners but no one dares to talk about it, perhaps for fear of losing these moments of MAGIC. I say hello to the cat…. And I run ...

What was your last moment of " extrinsic happiness "? Tell us about it…

Promise me Hugo never to let anyone discourage you from writing these little pearls of happiness!
Sworn.
Goods.
I love your Hugo texts. Even if they don't want to admit it, all runners recognize themselves.
The thank you box
We look forward to seeing you!
I think you're right!
Have a good trip!
Dear neighbor,
Every time I read you, you always manage to get a few tears out of me! Wow!
In MY mind, when I read you, I say to myself: “How lucky I am to share such beautiful childhood memories with this talented writer! "
You are an old soul who shares her journey with us and it balances events that we too have experienced like you! I am extremely proud of you, voiZin!
Continue to be the dad, the friend, the sportsman, the writer, the colleague and the future husband that you are! I will always be your childhood friend and especially the # 1 supporter of all your exploits!
Kisses neighbor,
Sonia xoxo
