To perform is to be healthy

To perform is to be healthy

For a long time, I believed that as a leader, I had to put my own needs last. That I had to be the first to work and the last to leave. To lead by example and perform well.

In fact, over time, I've come to realize that it's quite the opposite. Leading by example means demonstrating healthy performance management: paying attention to your limits, your energy level, your morale, and your mental health.

A tired and unbalanced leader leads to more stressed teams, which harms long-term performance.

If we want successful and sustainable businesses, we need healthy teams. Physically and mentally. And the health of the team starts with the health of the leader.

Recently, I co-signed open letters with Gabriel Tremblay, President and CEO of Groupe TAQ, and Julie Tremblay-Potvin, President of De saison – Art de vivre et de travail, in Deals et La PresseOur aim? To call for action and reflection on the importance we should give to health in our professional lives.

Health—physical and mental—should be at the heart of our corporate cultures. Establishing and maintaining healthy lifestyle and work habits requires the active involvement of everyone, employers and employees alike.

Physical activity should not be seen as recreational, but rather as essential to our long-term productivity, mental recovery, and creativity.

Let's create active, caring environments where people feel good, supported, and valued. Where performance doesn't rhyme with stress, overwork, and exhaustion, but rather with health, well-being, and mutual support.

Let's open the discussion and build a movement. Step by step. Together.
