For 5 years, we have been organizing the Corporate Challenge. In 5 years, we have gone from 400 to more than 10 participants. Obviously, by growing so much, our movement ended up reaching very different companies. In order to properly present the diversity of participating companies, we will present a series of interviews with the heads of these organizations. Today, discover Saved Belanger :

Q: Bélanger Sauvé is a specialized law firm present in 3 cities in Quebec, namely Montreal, Trois-Rivières and Joliette. What are your specialties and how many employees work for Bélanger Sauvé?
A: Our firm is made up of more than 50 lawyers who work mainly in municipal law, litigation and insurance law, labor law, administrative law, commercial law and real estate. In fact, this implies that they represent many municipalities, intermunicipal boards and MRCs in Quebec, insurers, businesses as well as public and paragovernmental organizations in Quebec.
In total, nearly 100 people, including administrative staff, make up the firm and serve its clients.
Q: How many years have you been participating in the Challenge and how many of your employees participate on average?
A: In 2016, this will be our third participation in Montreal and our second in Trois-Rivières. We started in 2014 with 21 members who took up the Montreal Challenge. In 2015, we were 36 in Montreal and 7 in Trois-Rivières; or more than 40% of our total workforce.
Q: What was the number one factor that led you to register your business for the Challenge?
A: In December 2013, we launched an internal health and wellness program. Even though we had specific actions in the past, we took the initiative to create a more structured program, throughout the year, to promote healthy lifestyles.
We were looking for a common challenge, as the ultimate goal of everyone's efforts, and the Défi Entreprises was the obvious solution to our research.
Q: What impact does Corporate Challenge has he had in your business? What are the repercussions?
A: A real satisfaction of the participants at the end of the race, showing them that their efforts during the year were bearing fruit… then, a significant aspect of training and motivation for the non-participants. As we can see, participation is increasing because people talk about it among themselves in the office. We are aiming for 50% participation in 2016!
Q: Are other companies in your industry participating in the Challenge?
A: Indeed. If we had a virtual monopoly in 2014, we had competition in 2015. It was nice to meet other members of our community on the spot and to see that the movement is growing every year.
Q: We know we can always improve, so how could we improve the Corporate Challenge?
A: You raise the bar every year and the atmosphere is really electrifying there while remaining intimate. Perhaps we could consider stretching and relaxation sessions for the participants who have just finished? We see our participants stretching sometimes, but most of the time this is not the case.
Q: Over the past year, have any participants in your company stood out either for their performance or their accomplishments?
A: Without a doubt. The Corporate Challenge was a revelation for many and got them hooked on running. We have more and more members who run on a very regular basis, but who also participate, among other things, in the Montreal or Ottawa Marathon, when running was not part of their life 3 years ago. years.
Some simply took to walking on a regular basis. But there too, it is for many a real accomplishment allowing them to pass from a sedentary life to a more active life. It would therefore be difficult to give names because it is a business achievement!
